Our Story
It began ten years ago when psychiatrist A/Prof Gary Galambos identified a lack of quality mental health education for the increasing number of people seeking guidance online.
Working closely with his patients at Uspace, St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney’s young adult mental health service, he developed a collection of specialist-grade resources for those seeking to help themselves and understand the language of mental health.
“I became interested in filling that gap and working with patients, aged mainly 16-25 in developing these resources. They were basically letting me know that they were wanting me to put this online.”
Under Gary’s vision and the commitment of his growing team, MindSkiller evolved into a service specialising in helping mental health services to innovate.
The innovative interventions that were researched and developed by MindSkiller include:
A state-wide MRI-guided Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Program delivered from radiology clinics
A Virtual Reality Mindfulness and Exposure Therapy program
A person-centred shared care program including outcome measures and clinical care pathways
What emerged from these projects was an ecosystem of mental health care interventions
Gary soon discovered that his medical students and trainee psychiatrists loved the eLearning modules, so he offered them as an online training program.
This included certificates in Mental Health Literacy for any clinician, mentor or coach wanting to improve their knowledge.
The next chapter in the MindSkiller story was a WH&S care pathway for any organisation wanting to look after the mental health of its employees.
Gary and his team developed the MindSkiller Risk Management Solution to provide organisations with the tools to manage the risks of psychosocial hazards in the workplace and demonstrate compliance with their WH&S obligations.
